Many people claim that theyare going to go on a diet or start going to the gym to lose weight.  As an idle pastime or because they are unhappy with their bodies. Most people don’t have the drive, the focus, or the ability to not be downright lazy to accomplish these goals.  From the age of 18 I have known that I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). This particular syndrome makes a woman susceptible to many things, including Diabetes.  The information was of course alarming, even more so because my grandmother died when I was a baby from diabetes and my uncle developed it a few years back.

Unfortunately I don’t have the luxury to be lazy anymore. Recently my doctor decided to do some extra blood tests to find out how my body responds to sugar.  Specifically a fasting glucose tolerance test, needless to say it came back rather bad.  My body is insulin resistant and cannot easily process sugar.  Also found was that I am vitamin D deficient to the point of surprising the doctor.  As of April I have been put on Metformin and vitamin D3 5000 UI.  I will also be furthering my journey to health by learning to eat right and exercise more.  I understand that in order to make this “journey” I must make a “Lifestyle Change” – a mere diet will not work.  If I am to avoid developing diabetes then a lifestyle change must be made, otherwise I would just gain back weight and be in danger again.  In hopes that blogging about my endeavors will encourage myself to continue on this path, and perhaps give me a little support/suggestions through viewers, I have started this site.

Thank you!

Mia
